Has the Internet become invincible?

08 Feb

Egypt’s ruling elite wanted Mubarak to stay in power, but the Internet wanted him out and now he’s out.

The US Congress wanted SOPA and PIPA, but the Internet was against it and the Congress backed down.

The breast cancer organization Susan G. Komen for the Cure decided to cut breast screening grants to Planned Parenthood. The Internet freaked out and now the organization has reversed itself.

Is the Internet invincible?

Stated more clearly, when there is broad consensus about an issue on the major social networks, blogosphere and online in general, does the Internet always win those conflicts? Is anything more powerful than the Internet united?
